Polymers that are classified as plastics can be divided into two major categories: thermoplastics and thermosets. Thermoplastics are plastic polymer material that become pliable or moldable at a certain elevated temperature and solidifies upon cooling. That is because Thermoplastics polymers are polymers formed from linear or loosely, not linked to each other, branched chains. So, it will be sufficient to increase the temperature to bring them to a viscous state and form them. Thus, they become workable with a Single Screw extruder or Twin-screw extruder.
Thermosets are special polymers which, once produced, cannot be melted without chemical degradation. Thermosetting polymers are those polymers which, under appropriate temperature conditions and/or in the presence of certain substances, are transformed into rigid, insoluble and infusible materials.
