The technological evolution of Bausano

Multidrive 4×2 System: integrated mechanical efficiency

The Multidrive 4×2 system is integrated into Bausano's MD twin-screw extruder series, designed to ensure efficiency, reliability and sustainability in plastics processing. Patented to reduce energy consumption, prevent reverse stress on the motors and contain torsional stress on the transmission components, the Multidrive 4×2 system distributes drive torque across four synchronized asynchronous motors, controlled by a single static frequency converter. Compared to traditional single-motor systems, it lightens the mechanical load on the shaft, gears and housing, with a direct impact on component life, plant reliability and energy savings of up to 30%.
The Multidrive 4×2 system and the Bausano gearbox housing, as well as all internal components – shafts and gears of the transmission box – are designed and manufactured in-house at the Bausano mechanical workshop at the company's site in Italy. This approach allows direct control over the entire production process and guarantees the client high quality standards, operational continuity and greater long-term reliability. Also available in a 2×2 version for smaller extruders, the Multidrive 4×2 system represents a solid technical choice for those seeking consistent productivity, energy efficiency and custom-built components.

Longer Life

Longer component life

The mechanical transmission of the Multidrive 4×2 system distributes motion across four distinct points, reducing stress concentrated on the shafts and gearbox housing. This limits wear on parts subject to mechanical stress, significantly increasing the extruder's service life and reducing the need for extraordinary maintenance over time.

More Power

More torque available at the screws

Thanks to torque distribution across multiple motors, the Multidrive 4×2 system makes it possible to transmit higher torque to the screws at equal installed power. This translates into higher mechanical efficiency, with greater reliability and production capacity even under demanding operating conditions or with complex materials to process.

Lower Consumption

Lower operating costs

At equal performance compared to traditional systems, the Multidrive 4×2 system ensures a significant reduction in energy consumption, thanks to load optimization on each motor axis. The result is a reduction in electrical requirements per kg/h of processed material and lower operating energy costs, with a direct impact on the extrusion line's profitability

An integrated system to optimize mechanical transmission

The Multidrive 4×2 system, together with the static frequency converter and the multi-stage thrust bearing, forms the mechanical and electronic architecture designed by Bausano to improve the stability, efficiency and service life of the twin-screw extruder. The static converter precisely synchronizes the asynchronous motors, avoiding the use of additional regulation components and ensuring uniform torque distribution.
The multi-stage thrust bearing, designed to withstand high axial loads, makes it possible to handle greater forces than traditional solutions, increasing wear resistance during continuous production cycles. In this context, the Multidrive 4×2 system reduces stress on the shaft and gears, avoiding localized overloads and optimizing power transfer. The integration of these three elements makes it possible to work with greater mechanical reliability, operational continuity and lower maintenance impact, even under high load conditions or with high-resistance materials.

Multidrive 2×2: the same reliability, in a compact format

To ensure the same advantages of the Multidrive 4×2 system even on the smaller sizes of the MD series, Bausano has developed the 2×2 configuration, available for models below the MD 92. In this solution, torque transmission is handled by two synchronized asynchronous motors, managed by a single static frequency converter. The system reduces mechanical stress on shafts and gears, optimizing yield even on compact plants.
The smaller footprint of the gearbox housing results in a lighter structure, simplifying installation and line management. The Multidrive 2×2 system is the ideal choice for those seeking operational continuity, mechanical reliability and cost control, even in smaller-scale production contexts.
A unique technology that makes your production lines stronger and more efficient, delivering more substantial energy savings.
