Extrusion solutions for energy sector components and infrastructure
Energy sector infrastructure requires extruded components capable of ensuring mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and long-term reliability, even under continuous operating conditions. Bausano designs extrusion lines for the production of cable ducts, gas distribution pipes, and domestic heating systems, smooth or corrugated, intended for energy networks and plants. The solutions are developed to ensure constant control of thickness and diameter, stable output, and uniform product quality, supporting continuous, high-volume production. Careful plant configuration helps maintain reliable performance over time, reducing scrap and ensuring operational continuity.
Bausano Extruders for Energy Applications
For the energy sector, Bausano uses single-screw and twin-screw extruders, selected based on the material, product diameter, and required output. E-GO single-screw extruders are used to process polyolefins such as PE, HDPE, and PP, ensuring stable flow, good melt homogenization, and high productivity on smooth pipes of small and large diameter.
MD parallel counter-rotating twin-screw extruders are mainly used for PVC, where they ensure uniform plasticization, precise thermal control, and process stability even with mineral fillers. For the production of corrugated PVC pipes and ducts, including with recycled material, Bausano also offers E-ON conical twin-screw extruders, designed to provide mechanical robustness, operational continuity, and reliability over intensive production cycles.
Materials for Energy Networks and Infrastructure
Bausano's extrusion lines are designed to process thermoplastic materials used in energy infrastructure, each selected according to its final application. PVC is used mainly for cable ducts, corrugated pipes, and protection systems, thanks to its rigidity, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability, even in filled or recycled formulations. PE is used in flexible piping and technical sheathing, where elasticity and impact resistance are required.
HDPE is used in gas networks and energy distribution systems thanks to its high pressure resistance, toughness, and long-term durability, making it suitable for underground installation as well. Compared to PP, HDPE offers better resistance to crack propagation and greater reliability under continuous operating conditions, while PP is preferred in applications requiring higher rigidity, thermal resistance, and lightness, such as in specific technical components and secondary ducting. The flexibility of Bausano's solutions allows the process to be adapted to different formulations, maintaining consistent quality and measurable performance.
